Depression
There are factors which contribute to a person developing depression:
- Depression can develop from internal factors (which are associated with biochemical changes in the body and brain)
- It also develop from external factors such as the loss of a loved one or a personal tragedy.
- It could also be brought on by long-term stress in one's situation/circumstances.
Symptoms of Depression
- Frequently crying for no apparent reason
- Constantly being negative towards the self and blaming others for thier advierse situations in life.
- Thoughts of suicide or talking about it with others
- Disturbances in one's sleeping pattern, for example, constantly waking up at night
- Dramatic eating pattern changes, for example, experiencing a loss of appetite or overeating
- Persistent fatigue and sleepiness during working hours
- Speech is slowed, for example, the inability to undertake continuous conversation
- May have a distorted self image, and imagining that other people are thinking about them constantly
- Constant criticism of one's self and/or of others
- Loss of enjoyment of fun activities, for example, the loss of interest in socializing with family and friends
